Water Shield (Brasenia schreberi)
Leaves are oval in shape with smooth edges, usually with a rustcolored underside. Stem is attached to the middle of the leaf. A clear jelly-like slime covers the underside of the leaves and stems on mature weeds. A dull purple flower develops in early summer. Best treated early before jelly-like slime develops.
