Prevention is best and can be achieved by proper construction with deep sides and proper watershed to reduce nutrient
Physical removal can be done with cutting or raking devices. Remember, this water weed can reproduce from fragmentation. Remove all fragments to keep unwanted pond weeds from spreading. Physical barriers like a lake mat work well for swimming areas, docks and boat lifts, provided regular muck removal is done.
Biological control can be done with the introduction of Grass Carp. Grass Carp warm water to develop an appetite. It may take one or more seasons to provide control. Stock in the spring prior to weed growth at the rate of 7-15 Grass Carp per surface acre. If pond remains cold over the summer, Trout would be a better stock option.
Chemical control can be done with 1 of 3 aquatic weed killing options:
(Harvester) Contact option. Kills makes good contact with.
(Aquathol Super K Granular & Hydrothol Granular) Contact option. Most effective in 65° or warmer water.
() Selective systemic option. Apply in spring for complete control.

Review for Aquathol Super K Granular
“Excellent product. Weeds are mostly gone and I still have tadpoles and frogs. I will be doing another application for the remaining weeds and expect to have the weeds under control.".
